This is a new, independent blog aimed at presenting Russian-language books for children and young adults to English publishers and anyone interested in knowing more about what kids are reading in Russian these days.
The aim is to feature news and reviews of children’s and YA publishing in Russia and other countries where Russian is spoken/read/written.
Inspired by Paper Republic, ArabKidLitNow and World Kid Lit blog, we want to create an informal and welcoming community of readers and reviewers, to share details of new books in translation and those in Russian which deserve to be translated.
Besides providing book news for young people looking to diversify their reading, this site is also aimed at publishers, librarians, educators and anyone else with an interest in promoting cross-cultural and international exchange. We hope eventually to include fiction and nonfiction, as well as poetry, graphic novels and picture books for all ages.
The site is completely independent and run by volunteers based in several countries. The site has no funding from any national governments or funding bodies.
